Last week, as part of our Summer Interns project, ACCESS hosted a charity Bake Sale event in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. The event, which took place on Friday 14th July, saw our star bakers out in force helping to donate delicious cakes for sale. Along with this, there was the opportunity to battle it out in our cake decoration competition, as well as, buy raffle tickets with some amazing prizes up for grabs.
The Teenage Cancer Trust creates world-class cancer services for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don't have to face cancer alone. It is one of the only UK charities dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. This allows all young people to be treated together, by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored for them.
Our interns chose this charity as they felt it was important to donate to a cause which represented their age group as they themselves are familiar with people who have been through this illness.
After all the sales had been tallied, we can announce that we managed to raise £1730 for the Teenage Cancer Trust - the most that ACCESS has raised for this cause. Adding this to last year's sum of £1500, ACCESS has donated a grand total of £3230 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. This is a great achievement in itself and we hope the charity benefits from this.
A big thank you to everyone who supported our Summer Interns with our charity day and of course a shout out to our interns who made the event such a success - Anneta Kiraga, Kennedy Riches, Marco Spalding, Massra Darmish and Amy Boyle.
We look forward to continuing to support the Teenage Cancer Trust in the future.
